Best of 2011 in Fashion

Chanel Paris-Bombay Métiers D'art Show
I don't know how Karl Lagerfeld does it. He can take any style, from any part of the world, and make it look not only good, but still look like it is Chanel. I think his Indian-inspired show for Pre-Fall 2012 is a perfect example.

Céline Boston Tote
The Céline Boston Bag was definitely the "IT" bag of 2011, seen on models, editors, and socialites alike. It is easy to see why this bag was so popular; it has a simple design with modern details, classic, and obviously chic.

Missoni for Target
Even though sold out within hours, the 400-piece Missoni for Target collaboration had some great dresses, blouses, sweaters, scarves, home accessories, and luggage.

Envelope Clutches
The envelope clutch trend became very popular. I love the idea of a clutch in the daytime (even though it is more difficult to carry), but it is also great because you can wear it into the evening. Again, here is an example from Céline. There were also some great ones from Valentino (like the rock-studded ones), Fendi, Clare Vivier, and for a less expensive price American Apparel.

Vanessa Traina for Maje
When I spent the spring in Paris, I discovered the French contemporary label Maje. With this wonderful discovery, I also found that the stylish socialite Vanessa Traina designed a collection for the label. It had some beautiful pieces consisting of pants, lace tops and dresses. Now the label is a favorite of mine.

Rachel Zoe Collection
The well-known stylist finally launched a collection of her own, which quickly became very successful. The pieces are so easy to wear and of course very chic and sophisticated.

Carine Roitfeld's "Irreverent"
Carine Roitfeld, the ex-Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue, went on to publish a book called "Irreverent." I was surpised to hear her leave the magazine, but she is still styling. Her book was a smashing hit with photos of her 30-year career. She is also working on another book with Karl Lagerfeld. I am excited to see what else she does in the future!
