Best of 2011 in Fashion

Chanel Paris-Bombay Métiers D'art Show
I don't know how Karl Lagerfeld does it. He can take any style, from any part of the world, and make it look not only good, but still look like it is Chanel. I think his Indian-inspired show for Pre-Fall 2012 is a perfect example.

Céline Boston Tote
The Céline Boston Bag was definitely the "IT" bag of 2011, seen on models, editors, and socialites alike. It is easy to see why this bag was so popular; it has a simple design with modern details, classic, and obviously chic.

Missoni for Target
Even though sold out within hours, the 400-piece Missoni for Target collaboration had some great dresses, blouses, sweaters, scarves, home accessories, and luggage.

Envelope Clutches
The envelope clutch trend became very popular. I love the idea of a clutch in the daytime (even though it is more difficult to carry), but it is also great because you can wear it into the evening. Again, here is an example from Céline. There were also some great ones from Valentino (like the rock-studded ones), Fendi, Clare Vivier, and for a less expensive price American Apparel.

Vanessa Traina for Maje
When I spent the spring in Paris, I discovered the French contemporary label Maje. With this wonderful discovery, I also found that the stylish socialite Vanessa Traina designed a collection for the label. It had some beautiful pieces consisting of pants, lace tops and dresses. Now the label is a favorite of mine.

Rachel Zoe Collection
The well-known stylist finally launched a collection of her own, which quickly became very successful. The pieces are so easy to wear and of course very chic and sophisticated.

Carine Roitfeld's "Irreverent"
Carine Roitfeld, the ex-Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue, went on to publish a book called "Irreverent." I was surpised to hear her leave the magazine, but she is still styling. Her book was a smashing hit with photos of her 30-year career. She is also working on another book with Karl Lagerfeld. I am excited to see what else she does in the future!

Red Jeans

Colored denim is everywhere now! However, I am not one to wear every color in the rainbow, so red is a nice choice for me. Red is my favorite color to pair with a black outfit. So, I love putting these red jeans with an all black outfit; it's a nice pop of color. I also put some lace and sequins into the outfit to jazz it up a bit.

Marni coming to H&M!

Just after the collaboration of Versace and H&M, the Italian label, Marni, is the next collaborator with H&M! I am very excited about this news. I think Marni is a great label to bring to the fashionable mass. It is unexpected. Consuelo Castiglioni, the founder and designer of Marni, uses a lot of prints and interesting silhouettes in her designs that isn't seen very often in stores for the fashionable mass. It will also be great for Marni to make a better name for itself in that market. Besides womenswear, the collection will feature jewelry, shoes, handbags, scarves, and even menswear! Marni for H&M will hit stores AND online (for those who do not have an H&M closeby!) March 8, 2012.

Dinner and a show

As I'm sure you can see, I wear a lot of black. It always looks chic and sophisticated in my eyes. I'm wearing a jacket that my nana bought me when I was about 13 years old. I don't wear it very often, but I like to bring it out every now and then because it has that minimalistic feel. Then I can add this very long ruched chiffon scarf and suede booties so it isn't so boring.  I also love the clutch for this outfit; a simple foldover clutch that can be worn day or night, casual or more formal. I wore this to a show then dinner.

Hello!

For many years I have had a great passion for fashion, since I was arguing with my mother as a child on what to wear in family portraits and when I first saw a pink Chanel classic flap bag at the age of 9. Now, I can finally share my perspective on fashion, style, and everything that inspires me.

Enjoy!
