Known for creating luxurious feminine and romantic looks, Gilles Mendel took on his spring collection on a different route. Down to the south pacific, to be exact, as brought by a plane crash. The designer was inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's "Cargo Cult," a song depicting a man's search from his lost love, brought down by a plane crash perhaps caused by the indigenous people of the pacific islands. The real islander can be seen in green and gold jacquard. Some dresses and blouses were a patchwork of lace and perforation. Overall, the looks were still pure of beautiful J.Mendel femininity, with lots of lace and luxe fabrics- including even a little of that famous Mendel fur.
